CV Design Competition Q & A

Design Competition

Q & A

1. There is a small gravel  car park/viewing platform next to the lake and in the centre of the selected area. Can we remove that car park, potential increasing pedestrian access and making a slight increase to the larger car park for vehicles?

That carpark/viewing station that you have referenced is the proposed location of the monument. The driving access straight up to the water’s edge could be removed with pedestrian access from the outer carpark to the site.

2. Can we put something on the island in the centre of the lake to be seen from the lakes edge only?

Yes, you can put something on the island in the centre of the lake.

3. There is a requirement for 1: 500 site plan and 1:100 plan, cross section and elevation to be included in the panels. Can you confirm if further site information or CAD will be provided? or whether entrants need to interpret the aerial photography using the scale bar in the 'Continuous+Voices+Site+Maps.pdf' to create these submission materials?

We do not have any more site drawing/details aside from those that have already provided as part of the Continuous Voices Site maps (pdf document). These can be utilised to create your submission materials.

4. Can I change the name of the architect in the registration?

Yes:

  • If the original Architect listed in your submission was fulfilling the role of a team member and NOT the registered Entrant for the competition, they can be replaced.

  • If the original Architect listed in your submission has concluded employment with their firm the name of the Architect listed can be changed to their replacement, however the same firm needs to be utilised if they were the registered Entrant.

No:

  • If the original Architect listed in your submission WAS the Entrant and no longer wishes to continue and you wish to use an Architect from a new company your proposal would be no longer eligible.

5. Is the $100,000 artist fee included in the fabrication/installation budget of $1,000,000?

The $100,000 is to be provided to the successful design team for Design Development of Preferred Concept at the end of this competition. Construction documentation, methodology and timeline for design development will be negotiated as part of the inception process before the payment of these fees. Seperate to this is the $1,000,000 committed Memorial Construction Budget (GST exclusive), which includes:

  • All construction costs including and not limited to underground services relocation and

  • Construction contingency.

Exclusions from the Memorial Construction Budget include design team and other consultancy fees associated with post competition services.

6. Having visited the site, which is flat, I am wondering about the contour lines across the site. I have not been able to find the contour plans for the site.

We do not have any more site drawing/details aside from those that have already provided as part of the Continuous Voices Site maps (pdf document). These can be utilised to create your submission materials.

7. Can you tell me if I am to email my proposal (4 A1 sheets, statement and budget proposal and declaration?
