A joint project between the City of Ballarat and Federation University
The Ballarat’s Ceramic Heart program was a rare opportunity to access one of Ballarat’s premier ceramic studios - located inside the walls of the historic old gaol. Soaked in natural light and filled with state of the art kilns, pottery wheels, glazing stations and work spaces, it was a chance to experience a range of different cultural experiences.
The Ceramic Studio at the SMB Campus, Federation University in the heart of heritage Ballarat opened its doors to the community as part of a program to examine the viability of commencing community focused activities. The Ceramic Heart Project was about bringing together our community who are passionate about pottery.
Over a 6-month period from January 2022 to June 2022 our city had the chance to explore and experiment.
Further to review, Federation University now offers a Fire by Kilo as a regular service for the community.
With support from Creative Victoria, Craft Victoria, the City of Ballarat together with Federation University.
